Our history

FOUNDATION OF BIOAPPLY. LAUNCHING THE BIODEGRADABLE BAG AND DUAL USE

2006

The basic objective is to replace single-use plastic with a bio-based and biodegradable 100% European bag.

RANGE OF COMPOSTABLE BAGS

2008

The BioApply compostable bags enable a positive cycle from its point of sale to the compost. After being used for shopping, the bag is then reused to efficiently sort organic waste: A contribution to high quality and quantity biomass.

BIOWASTE RANGE - ORGANIC WASTE DISPOSAL

2010

The issue of recycling organic waste is a challenge in terms of sorting quality. Compostable solutions have proven to be effective in making sorting simple, hygienic and practical, BioApply now offers specific solutions for the sorting of organic waste, responding to the growing demand at the communal, cantonal and regional levels, but also for the home.

RESPECT-CODE

2012

Since 2012, almost all BioApply solutions are traceable, in full transparency. In order to fight against green washing, BioApply has partnered with Product DNA to make its supply chain 100% verified, in one click.

REBAG - DEVELOPMENT OF THE FIRST BIOSOURCED AND COMPOSTABLE REUSABLE BAG

2013

To complete its dual-use offering, BioApply introduces its first compostable, reusable solutions that challenge fossil-based solutions such as woven PP bags or paper bags co-extruded with plastic.

THE LITTLE GREEN BIN

2015

At the request of the Canton of Geneva, BioApply develops a small kitchen waste bin that is ventilated, designed and compatible with compostable bags and kitchen storage systems. This small bin is adopted by the inhabitants of the Canton of Geneva and contributes significantly to the separation of organic waste. Since then, BioApply has remained the canton’s official supplier.

COMPOBAG

2016

The Compobag, which has been on sale in Switzerland for 15 years, has seen little further development. BioApply decided to revise this essential product and optimise both its functionality and its environmental performance. The packaging was simplified, the design optimised and the compostable films improved to drastically reduce the thickness and CO2 impact.
The Ecocompobag has won its sustainable bet and is becoming increasingly popular on the Swiss market.

BABAG

2017

The BaBag is a sustainable alternative to cotton bags or tote bags. While cotton has a high-water consumption and is prone to pesticides, the Babag is made from PEFC-certified wood fibres from Central Europe. It is certified as compostable.

BIOPAPER

2018

BioPaper, launch of the first product range made of treated functional paper.
The products are certified suitable for composting and recycling.

PAPER CARRIER

2020

BioApply offers a sustainable alternative to the kraft bag and launches paper carrier bags containing up to 30% dry grass. The eco-balance is significantly improved by this biomass from waste.

IFOODBAG

2021

BioApply offers a new solution for refrigeration management. In collaboration with the company IFoodBag, BioApply aims to highlight innovative and recyclable solutions to complement its product range.

WOODEN RANGE

2022

Based on wood fibres, BioApply launches the Wooden range to solve the organic cotton problem. A complete range, from fruit and vegetable nets to bags for bulk produce, all made from 100% European plants and compostable. For the future, BioApply is running two innovation projects:
IsoBag: developing a reusable cooler bag made from recycled materials.
It is made of renewable raw materials and can be recycled at the end of its life cycle.
SurfAce: Development of a surface treatment that is made of 100% renewable raw materials and increases the resistance of compostable films.
